Meditation is a type of mind-body complementary therapy that has been practiced for thousands of years. There are many varieties of meditation, all of which help to produce a deeper state of relaxation and tranquility. Generally, meditation is practiced alone, however, group or guided meditation is also widely practiced. At Orchards End we offer group meditation and workshops as a complimentary healing art to our elimination diet plan. The practice allows you to focus your attention and quiet the mind, promoting stress reduction. The end result is enhanced physical and emotional well-being. Types of meditation include yoga, guided meditation, mantra meditation, qi gong, transcendental meditation, and mindfulness meditation.
Meditate for Weight
Our thoughts actually carry physical weight so think light and be light! Meditation; this simple practice of focusing our attention in order to find calm and clarity, can lower our blood pressure and manage stress. Stress causes crazy biochemistry changes to occur in our bodies which can drive us to eat when our body isn’t in need of food. When our hormonal levels are raised from stress our leptin and insulin become out of balance and cortisol levels skyrocket. The cortisol causes INFLAMMATION, which also make sustainable weight-loss virtually impossible. Visualization and meditation are now considered mainstream healing modalities because data is so clear: it simply has the power to change your brain and your body for the better.
